Park Side Elementary

Parent Involvement

Cupcakes not your thing? There's always something you can do here at Park Side, regardless of whether you work, have young children at home or simply don't know what to do. Here are some ideas to help you get started:

  • Meet the teacher
      • If you weren't able to join us for Back to School night (9/18), or write a note to the teacher and see if you can arrange a time to introduce yourself.

  • Join the PTSA
  • You don't have to be the chairperson of a committee.  There are many ways to help, big and small.  Check out what your PTSA is planning.  Maybe you have a few hours to devote to an upcoming book fair, family night or reading program.

  • Support the Sebastopol Educational Foundation (SEF)
  • SEF is a non-profit fundraising organziation that works throughout the year to provide supplemental funding to our schools to improve the overall quality of education in the classrooms, and to provide meaningful enrichment for all students.  SEF is currently sponsoring the Pledge Program for classroom enrichment and field trips.  We ask all parents to pledge support today.

  • Become a class parent.
  • Becoming a volunteer in the classroom or a Class Parent doesn't require any specific skill other than wanting to help out the teacher.  It give you an opportunity to see your child in the classroom setting, get to know their classmates and develop a closer relationship with the teacher.  Whether it's attending a party, bringing in goodies, chaperoning a field trip or making phone calls, lending a helping hand in the classroom enriches your child's day, and most certainly your own, as well.

  • Use your business skills.
  • If you're good writer, you may be able to help with grant writing or fundraising for the school and its services.  If this is your forte, please contact Principal Roy Camarillo at 829-7400 today.
