Message from the Principal

Dear Tiger Cub families,

It is with great honor that I serve as the proud principal of Park Side Elementary School! As a Sebastopol native and career educator, I am keenly aware of how unique and wonderful Park Side continuously proves to be. With a small, yet diverse population, the Tiger Cub family is welcoming and inclusive. 

Park Side Elementary School, in the quaint town of Sebastopol, serves TK through fourth grade students. Highly qualified teachers provide carefully designed instruction that follows California’s common core standards. Strong curriculum, technology, and teacher vetted resources allow for rigorous, differentiated, and creative lessons. Classrooms offer safe environments where each student’s individual needs and learning styles are considered. In addition to the core curriculum, students have access to extra curricular, enrichment opportunities. All students participate in garden, library, and music classes weekly. After school, students can sign up for various clubs including choir, drama, and art.

Park Side believes in the importance of teaching students how to be positive citizens through the implementation of social emotional learning (SEL). Using skills and resources from adopted curriculum, ToolBox and Wayfinder, students can better manage challenging situations and teachers can build strong, safe classroom communities. Park Side is a PBIS campus (positive behavioral interventions and supports) where students are taught to do what is expected and rewarded for making safe, responsible, respectful, and kind choices. 

Communication is key at Park Side. Families are encouraged to participate and stay connected. Family members can volunteer in classrooms, help with enrichment activities, join school wide committees, and communicate directly with their teachers through the app, Parent Square. Parent Square is also used to distribute weekly newsletters and important, timely information. Additionally, community members can stay up to date with the multitude of campus activities/happenings through social media pages on Instagram and Facebook. Finally, Park Side’s phone lines and main office are always open to answer questions and assist. We love seeing new and familiar faces!
