Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is important to students’ success. Absence from school shall be excused only for health reasons, family emergencies, and justifiable personal reasons, as permitted by law, Board Policy, and Administrative Regulations (Ed. Code 46010, 48216, 48205). All other absences are considered to be unexcused. Excessive absences may impact a student’s academic or social development. When a student is absent, the school may contact parents/guardians regarding attendance.

Excessive absences will result in notification letters, attendance meetings, an attendance contract, and/or referral to the county’s School Attendance Review Board (SARB). Additionally, a student who has more than ten excused absences during the course of the school year may be asked to bring a doctor’s note verifying each subsequent absence.

In order to meet state requirements, the school must keep complete and accurate attendance records. Please follow the steps as outlined below:

  • Submit a note through ParentSquare electronically or bring a note that includes the student name, the date(s) of absence, the reason for absence, and the signature of the student's parent or guardian. If the absence is for a medical or dental appointment, please bring the note provided by the doctor/facility.
  • Parents/Guardians may also phone the office at (707) 829-7400 to report an absence.
