About Ms. Nelson

Ms. Nelson grew up in the Sacramento foothills, but was fortunate to spend her junior year of high school abroad on the Greek Island of Cyprus. During the year, she traveled throughout the Mediterranean, Europe, Asia, and Northern Africa. This experience ignited her passion for traveling and exploring other cultures. She attended college at UC Santa Barbara and then lived in San Francisco for seventeen years. She moved to Petaluma in 2020. She loves being close to family, as well as all the sunshine and nature Sonoma County has to offer.

She taught fifth grade in San Francisco for fifteen years and recently worked as a K-5 tutor and Reading Specialist in Petaluma.

She gets excited when students persevere through and overcome struggles. Hearing students say, “I did it! I am proud of myself,” is absolutely priceless. She lives for the AHA! moments when students understand new concepts or see how lessons apply directly to their lives.
